Hong Kong Sevens - Highlights of the final stages

Highlights of the superb final day with Fiji producing a stunning performance to overcome New Zealand in a gripping final. Fiji's intensity was just too much for the All Blacks with sublime skill, strong running and clamp like defence proving to be a powerful combination.

The teams went in to half time at 14-14 with Waisea Nayacalevu and Joeli Lutumailagi crossing for Fiji and the elusive Mark Jackman  responding for the New Zealanders. Further tries from Setefano Cakau and Nikola Matawalu and a second from Nayacalevu sealed their 13th Hong Kong title.

Fiji had secured their place in the final with a 14-7 win over England. After trailing by two tries, England came back in to the game in the final minutes and looked to be ready to take the game in to extra time only to lose a 5 metre scrum on their own put in with an excellent attacking position beckoning. England's only try coming from the highly impressive Mat Turner with a 50 metre run.

South Africa the went on to secure third place with a convincing 28-0 win over a jaded and dispirited England.

New Zealand retain their position at the top of the World Series on 111 points with Fiji now strongly in contention only two points behind. South Africa lie in third place on 93 with England in fourth place on 89 points with three tournaments left. Next week the show moves on to Tokyo with the series finale at Twickenham on 12th and 13th May.
